Who’s got them?

Selling it on craigslist?

Don’t all cars have those?
They’re also called running lights right?

these are legitimately our parking lights.

I’ve got them. I’m lazy and don’t want to go out and take a pic though.

No these are like city lights I think. The running lights don’t light up those rectangles just forward of the taillights, or anything in the turn signal housing, it lights up in the headlight housing I think.
These ones turn on with a separate switch on top of the steering column

Some cars have amber DRL’s.

My CRV does I guess, one click on the stalk, one more click and the headlights go on.

I think those are something else. Or those are parking lights, and what I’m calling parking lights are city lights....because I also have the two settings on the stalk, but then a separate button on top of the steering column that turns those other lights on

Old phone pic. That particular phone liked to pink-shift everything a touch.

Niva! Awesome.
My girlfriends phone fell in a toilet and now it picks a new colour to turn every picture, but it’s usually pink

I don’t have smaller white light in the front, I see lots of new cars with small LEDs down low that are on instead of the headlights. I guess you have the precursor to that. My CRV has plastic covers where some other lights would be had I owned the fancy trim level, I was going to stick some small LEDs in there for that purpose.

Yep, I’m parked. Yep, it has lights.

I imagine those are blanks for fog lights, but I don’t know CRVs so I’m not sure. I have foglight blanks and I want to get some and see how hard the install would be

Yeah they are, there is a kit you can get for them at the dealer, has brackets. I see a covered spot for a switch inside which could be for that.

Ooh maybe I should see if Subaru has something like that too

Obviously not factory.
My phone wasn’t damaged, it just had a real shitty camera. That picture is full resolution, lol.

2 out of 3, I guess. The ‘04 Jetta has DRLs, or full lights with headlights, one or the other. Oddly enough, if you don’t have the headlights on, put it in Park (auto, not my car), and pull the Parking brake, you have no lights, Parking or otherwise. The ‘89 Toyota pickup has three switch positions: off (no lights), parking lights, and parking plus headlights with separately switched brights. The ‘78 Z has the same settings as the truck. In 16 years of extensive business travel with many very forgettable rentals, I can say my experience is that at least post-2000 means no more parking lights, for whatever reason.

The Subaru switches all the lights off in Park with the handbrake on too, so does my work Yaris. Well except for the separate parking light switch, but the Yaris doesn’t have that, just running lights or headlights.

Yes? Not sure actually, I have to turn them on but they don’t put out enough light to be useful. Pre-DRL accent lighting.

Wait there are retractable ones? That’s really cool, I’ve never seen that before

As far as I know, that’s because they’re meant to stay on all night and not kill your battery. I’ve been told they’re to make your car more visible if you park on a narrow street, but I haven’t looked into it. My favourite version is the city lights in euro BMWs

Coolest. Thing. Ever.

Basically everybody has them. And nobody around here knows the difference between parking lights and driving lights/daytime running lights or any kind of lights. People, it’s not OK to drive at 11:30 PM with parking lights on!

On older Mercs, (our 85 300TD had it) you can turn on only one side of the lights. That way, you only had to turn on the side facing the street. Though honestly, if a person is going to hit a parked car on the street at night, lights probably don’t make much of a difference.

You mean, “Battery kill switches; who’s got them?”
